Black Dog YogaSan Fernando Valley by Kacie 0
The Real Deal:
Black Dog Yoga is deceptively large, with three separate yoga rooms. Not only is the studio extremely warm and welcoming but it smells amazing because of the massage room located by the front desk! Black Dog Yoga offers a variety of classes which primarily feature Ansura and Ashtanga Vinyasa systems…which basically means that they focus on incorporating flowing movement and breath with proper alignment and spirituality. They also offer pre and post-natal yoga, mommy and me yoga, and even kids yoga at Two Hearts Yoga located a few doors down. Classes are offered seven days a week and throughout the day, which is great for those with crazy schedules…plus they offer community classes at a discounted price. Check their website for the most updated schedule.

Due to a recent foot injury, my crazy cardio days have been put on hold for a few weeks…=( I decided to embrace my misfortune and turn it into a positive and discover the joys of yoga. Black Dog Yoga was my first stop on my new journey, and I popped into their 3:00 community class. The class had about 20 people, which was very impressive for a Monday afternoon. Shari Goodhartz was the instructor, and I found it so sweet that she took the time to remember all of our names, plus she brought everyone chocolate for Valentine’s Day!! Honestly though, Shari took the time to help everyone throughout the 90 minute class and was extremely patient, especially with yoga-challenged students like me!! It has only been four hours since the class ended and I am already sore…I can only imagine what tomorrow will bring! For those of you looking for a great and inexpensive yoga class, be sure to stop by for one of the many community and donation based classes offered here.
