The Real Deal:

Equilibrium Pilates is not your average pilates studio.  It doesn’t just offer pilates, but the super-charged, muscle-exhausting, extreme SPX pilates!  It also has spinning, but not just any ol’ spinning…Real Ryder spinning, the dynamic, core-engaging, calorie-burning, ultimate cycling experience!  If you’re looking for a new exercise spot that delivers two of LA’s best workouts, then Equilibrium in Hollywood is it (AND they have a location in Glendale!). The studio space is expansive with an industrial look that really makes you feel like you’re there to work!  It also doesn’t hurt that the owner of the studio, Annabelle, is one of the BEST instructors in LA.  We have taken many SPX pilates classes from her and can assure you that not only is she extremely attentive to form (therefore giving you a safe AND effective workout), but she keeps her workouts high-energy with great music and a positive attitude.  The studio also has the new SPX Megaformer machines.  They basically take the traditional Proformer pilates workout and kick it up a notch with new bells and whistles.  These new machines are definitely worth checking out. Don’t forget to also take the Real Ryder classes!  If you are looking for an inspiring and challenging Real Ryder instructor…make sure and sign up for Nayda’s class (she is an incredible instructor)!

Even though Equilibrium is a bit of a drive for me, it’s worth it. Annabelle, the owner, was one of my favorite pilates instructors back when I took classes from her years ago at a different location.  When I heard she had opened her own studios, I was so excited to check them out!  I decided to visit the location on Hollywood because I heard it had the new SPX Megaformer machines.  Having taken SPX classes for years on the Proformer, I was impressed with the additions and enhancements on the new machines.  The front and back bars now rotate in and out for different hand placements, and there are nice visual markers along the carriage and straps to make sure you’re keeping in proper alignment during the workout.  I was pleasantly surprised to get a better workout than I ever had before with all of these new adjustments!  Aesthetically, the studio gives off just the right vibe.  With high ceilings and concrete floors, the space feels very open and airy…the perfect atmosphere for a butt-kicking workout.  The spinning room is a great size too and I just LOVE that it features Real Ryder bikes (the ONLY way to really spin)!  I can’t wait to take more classes with one of my favorite spin instructors…Nayda.  She always knows the right things to say to keep me motivated during her intense sessions and you can tell by the giant grin on her face that she truly loves the workout as well!
