The Real Deal:

Griffin White has been teaching kettlebell boot camp for over three years now.  His class is an hour full of unique kettlebell moves to challenge your strength and flexibility and provide enough cardio to keep you sweating.  If you’re new to this type of workout, kettlebell training offers similar benefits to dumbbell training, plus more.  The weight of the kettlebell hanging below its thick handle makes it a bit harder control, thus forcing you to focus on your core to maintain proper form and balance.  Once you get a hang of the technique (which Griffin is extremely helpful with!) you will learn to swing, press and pull your way through a full body workout.  Griffin’s bootcamp is held at Fitness Factory LA in West Hollywood, located just south of Santa Monica Blvd and one street west of Roberston.  This workout is great for all fitness levels as there are kettlebells in many different weights and sizes.   The class tends to get packed so be sure to arrive a few minutes early for a good spot in the room.  Let Griffin know it’s your first time in the class and he’ll make sure and set you up with the appropriate kettlebells and check in on you throughout the class to make sure you’re using proper form.

Kacie and Julie say:

WOW!  We took Griffin White’s kettlebell boot camp three days ago and are still crazy sore!!  The class is held at the Fitness Factory LA in West Hollywood, and is definitely off the beaten path (the gym is housed in a nondescript warehouse building with a small sign!)  Metered parking is available on La Peer and you can park for free from 7:00-8:00am.  Griffin had us a warm up and familiarize ourselves with the kettlebell and then we moved on to the first set of workouts.  Each set consisted of four different moves which we repeated three times.  We were using a 15 pound kettlebell, and by the end of the workout we could barely lift our arms.  What we loved most about this workout is that it incorporates cardio without needing to run or use a machine at the gym.  Griffin was so attentive to us throughout the class and made sure we were using proper form throughout the workout.  He really explained the movements clearly, and we felt pretty good about our newly found kettlebell skills by the end of class!  We still can’t believe how GOOD sore we are though and are looking forward to future kettlebell sessions!
