I have been avoiding Zumba for the longest time….rhythm is definitely not one of my most prized talents! I had actually cancelled my Zumba class twice, but decided I couldn’t hide from it any longer. I enlisted my cousin, and off we went to Pulse Fitness in Sherman Oaks. I met the instructor Sandy Campanella and knew this was going to be a lot of fun. There were about 20 people in the class, so I placed myself in the very back. The class was filled with life, energy and amazing music….and as long I didn’t peek in the mirror all was good. I was shaking my hips, feeling sexy and confident and sweating within the first five minutes. I peeked at the clock and realized there were only 15 minutes left of the class, the hour definitely flew by. Even though my dance moves would never get me on Dancing With the Stars, it was so much fun and I was sore all over the next day. I just signed up for next class, and plan on mastering the art of Zumba….or just have fun while trying!

I had the extreme pleasure of taking one of Mark Harari’s classes, the owner of Pulse Fitness Studio last week. Even after five weeks of training for a 5K, his class kicked my butt. We rotated between two rounds on the treadmill and two rounds of weights, and by the second round on the treadmill, my legs felt like 50 pound weights! Don’t get me wrong, the K.O Conditioning class was AMAZING!! A specific body part is targeted each day, but Thursday is always full body conditioning. Mark encourages everyone to push themselves, but understands that we are all different and might not be able to run an 8.0. When the class is full, half are on the treadmill while the other half are doing weights. I prefer to run first, so if you do as well, be sure to get there a few minutes early. The class is always different, and NEVER boring! The best part is that your first class is always FREE!
